In honour of Gay Pride Week I decided to do a raw live recording of the song I wrote about coming out when I was 18.

    LYRICS:

So this is how it feels when the world ends

Something dies and is born again

You think you know yourself, but do you?

Should I stay silent? or be condemed?

This is how it feels when the world ends

Can you fathom the darkness inside of you?

Take a look at your face

    It will be replaced

This is the other side of the mirror

Shades of gray; nothing's carved in stone

Suffer in silence, or be alone?

Why can't I have my cake and eat it too?

Always different, always on the outside

And now I know the reason why

What would they all say if they only knew?

Shadows of silence haunting me through the night?

And yet within my shell my soul takes flight?

And believe me, world, I really had no choice

The secret deep within asphyxiates me

I've got to let it out; I've got to be free

And someone, somewhere, has got to hear my voice!

Take a look at your face

    It will be replaced

This is the other side of the mirror

Mother, Father, I can not be

Whatever it is that you want me to be

I wish that you could understand, I wish that you could say,

"It's all right, sweetheart, we love you anyway."

But I know I can't expect what will never be

And all that I can hope is that you'll still care for me

So if this is farewell, I guess I'll say goodbye

And face the world with hope and my battle cry --

Someone's got to take the chance, and say it loud:

    "I'm young, gay, and proud!"

Take a look at your face

    It will be replaced

This is the other side of the mirror

So this is how it feels when the world ends

Something dies and is born again

You think you know yourself, but do you?

Well, I'm not silent, and I've been condemned

But maybe someday all this pain will end

Courage, patience, and faith will see us through

Take a look at your face

    It will be replaced

This is the other side of the mirror

Take a look at your face

    It will be replaced

This is the other side of the mirror

This is a filk of "Sink the Bismarck" by Johnny Horton that I wrote for my fanfiction novel series, "The Toy Soldier Saga." Read them at http://toy-soldier-spelljammer.webs.com. Like my Toy Soldier Book Trailers, I have put together Machinima images to tell the story. Fans of the series will recognize the characters and the plot elements.

*Please note - the image of the Vengeance is a miniature that was handmade (not by me; I found the image with Google,) and yes, you can still hear the chorus singing "Sink the Bismarck" in the background. That's because I just sang my words to a karaoke version of the song.*

FOOTAGE: Dungeons & Dragons, Horatio Hornblower, Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring & The Two Towers, Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World, Pirates of the Caribbean IV: On Stranger Tides, Sharp's War & Treasure Planet.

ADDITIONAL FOOTAGE: Black Prophecy, Final Fantasy VII & VIII, Sonicbomb.com, Warhammer 40000 & World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade.

GRAPHICS: Google; Space Graphics: Hubble Space Telescope; Spelljammer® Graphics & Animations: Silverblade the Enchanter.

MUSIC: "Sink the Vengeance" by Sable, a filk of "Sink the Bismarck" by Johnny Horton; "Robinton's Whistle Tune II" by Anne McCaffrey, Tania Opland & Mike Freeman.

Song originally written by Eric Bogle 1976. Recorded by Sable 11/11/11 in honour of Remembrance Day. I have included photos and vintage footage from WWI to tell the story, which I can't listen to without it breaking my heart. The bugle piece at the beginning is "The Last Post," traditionally played at infantry funerals for those unaware, and the bagpipe piece at the end is an excerpt from "The Flowers of the Forest;" traditionally played at all sorts of military funerals, especially in the former UK; both pieces are mentioned in the lyrics of the song. This song will appear on my upcoming "Pyrates and Pagans" album.

My goth band, Gallows Hill, is reuniting after ten years of absence, and re-releasing the album we should have finished. "Grave Situation" was our first video, shot individually with the band members in different locations, after I came across the country from BC to Maine, when Kevyn LeBlanc (guitarist, songwriter) and Roy Adams (keyboardist, producer) were located.

My goth band, Gallows Hill, is reuniting after ten years of absence, and re-releasing the album we should have finished. This is the original release of our biggest hit, "Solace," which reached number three on the goth rock charts of Mp3.com and stayed in the top ten for two months.

This is a video I put together in Windows Movie Maker to give you something interesting to look at while you listen to the music. I'm not a professional video artist but I hope you find it interesting. I found many of these images with Google and as far as I know, they are all public access, except for "Dragons and Unicorns" by Iridryll and "Dragon Sorceress" by Morion (both used by permission,) and the photos of me and of me & the love of my life (which are, of course, mine.) If I have mistakenly co-opted someone's copyrighted work, please email me directly and I will be pleased to work something out with you. Inspired by Anne McCaffery's "Dragonriders of Pern" series.

This is a video I put together in Windows Movie Maker to give you something interesting to look at while you listen to the music, though I do nothing halfway and I did try to tell the story with the images as well as the music. I'm not a professional video artist but I hope you find it interesting. I found many of these images with Google and as far as I know, they are all public access, except for all the shots of me, shamelessly stolen from one of the videos by my former band, Gallows Hill (mutually agreed to have shared copyrights and distrbution rights by each of us.) If I have mistakenly co-opted someone's copyrighted work, please email me directly and I will be pleased to work something out with you. Inspired years ago by "The Vampire Chronicles" by Anne Rice.
